“To wrap things up, we want to really have some fun and put on one of our current favorite songs: The Moon Will Sing by The Crane Wives. The acoustic folk song is a great example of what the Scansonic HD M15.2 is capable of. Through them, the track gains an airiness, scale, and spaciousness that, for example, the Canton GLE 30 S2 simply doesn’t achieve. One clear strength of the Scansonic HD is its sheer musicality. A hard-to-define concept, but no other word comes to mind as we listen. The clear, compelling vocals of singer Emilee Petersmark convey just the right amount of emotion. The rhythmic drumline drives the song forward, while just enough high notes shimmer through the guitar playing to leave the track with a certain tenderness.”

“The Scansonic M15.2 impressively demonstrates how much audiophile substance can be packed into a compact format. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials—such as the honeycomb midrange driver and the precisely engineered magnetostatic tweeter—they deliver a transparent, detailed sound image with realistic spatial reproduction and precise microdynamics. The passive radiator provides a well-contoured, fast-responding bass without artificial emphasis, although the very lowest frequencies are, by design, left out. In the treble range, the speakers exhibit impressive airiness and resolution, without causing fatigue over long listening sessions.”

As the entry into Scansonic newest range. The M 15.2 offers more with its form factor, planar tweeter and passive ratio in lieu of the almighty port. It’s thin film HF unit is a bit of magic, not only at this price. With black and white satin plus matching optional stands. It hits the two main contemporary preferences. M for thoroughly Modern too is a part of its menu. We already know the front grills to be magnetic, so there’s that. Umm. That’s a lot of munificence which strikes. Be as mixing it up rather mega for the money. Before being accused of milking the poor M for more multiplicity. Get this man a mojito.

The Scansonic M15.2 is a 1500 Euro bookshelf (standmount) speaker that has a 6.5inch mid woofer and a ribbon tweeter. Bass is aided not by a port but by a passive bass radiator mounted on the back. Their unusual shape is a case of form following function, and it will be a talking point. Sonically, these are a detailed and thoroughly enjoyable speaker to listen to, though some may find the ribbon tweeter a little too revealing if they are coming from more traditional dome tweeters. Overall, their presentation is akin to a good near to mid-field monitor. If you are in the market for a speaker in this price range, then you should audition over as long a period as you can.
